Coachella Kicks Off With Sabrina Carpenter and Surprise Guests

BBC News (04/11/26) Moench, Mallory The Coachella music festival kicked off Friday, April 10, with Sabrina Carpenter's headlining performance. Her set was distinguished by Oscar-winning Susan Sarandon delivering a monologue as an older version of the 26-year-old pop star. Other actors who featured in Carpenter's Hollywood-themed performance were actor Sam Elliott and comedian Will Ferrell. The huge festival in the California desert is projected to draw over 100,000 people daily over two weekends. This year, though, weather services have issued wind and dust advisories for the area. Strong breezes forced the festival to cancel a set by DJ Anyma following Carpenter's performance. Other performers that took the stages on the first weekend included former Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth, British artist Disclosure and global girl group KATSEYE.
