
Crucial Agreement Made in Tampa Bay Rays Stadium Deal
FOX 13 (08/21/26) Mesmer, Aaron The Tampa Bay Rays baseball team has reached an agreement with the city of Tampa and Florida's Hillsborough County on a $2.3 billion ballpark proposal to be located at the site of Hillsborough College. The proposed development would sit directly across from Raymond James Stadium, with the Rays contributing just over 50% of the total costs. Under terms of the deal, the city faces a $180 million commitment, while Hillsborough County would provide almost $800 million. City officials restructured an $80 million portion of Tampa's commitment in order to permit local leaders to review the public proposal online ahead of their upcoming scheduled votes. Tampa City Council Chair Alan Clendenin expressed confidence the council has enough votes to pass the measure thanks to the inclusion of a revenue-sharing pitch from Councilman Bill Carlson.
